Exit & Emergency Lighting

exit_sign_officeEmergency lighting is a requirement in almost every building in Australia other then a sole residential dwelling as not only is it a lifesaver in blackouts, often in a fire the power can be out and familiar surroundings may not be as easily navigated in the dark with smoke potentially filling the room that is why it is essential to maintain these systems in full working order.

Why is it important?

Imagine for a second you are sitting at your desk and all the power was cut to the premises. For people inside your building, it could be a frightening or dangerous experience if there were no exit signs or emergency lights to help you locate the exit path and evacuate safely through the floor and down stairs.

Emergency lighting testing and maintenance is the only way to minimise the risk of faulty emergency lighting in an emergency situation as often batteries do not hold charge or ballast fail and even though the light may appear to be ok to the casual observer it may not be which is why maintenance and testing at specific intervals is required by Australian Standard 2293.1 (2005).

New LED emergency luminaries not only last longer they use on average a third of the power of traditional fittings and this can help you fulfill your obligations towards a BASIX
